freedom of speech!???

We’ve lost 2 of the most prominent people in entertainment industry.
There was MJ, and then there was Yasmin Ahmad.
Rest in peace to them both.

These 2 people spent their lives trying to unite people of all races.

In short, they were trying to break the barrier of ‘something’ that many of us still perceive as taboo.
They were known to some people as fighters.
Though they were criticised by ‘misunderstood’ people, they never gave up in fighting their fights.

Although they aren’t physically with us,

their spirit and work WILL be remembered, by MANY, for MANY years to come!
I, myself, included.

Let’s put ourselves in their shoes.
Sooner or later, our ‘time’ will come.
Now, do we want others to remember us for all the good that we’ve done?
Or, do we want to be remembered for the ;mistakes' that we’ve done in the past?

And is it an OK thing for others to publicly tell the world about these 'mistakes'?

Why must we let our mentality to portray ourselves as shallow people?
Why must we take the (unnecessary) effort to dig up what had happened in the past?
Why must we feel proud talking about other people’s 'missteps''?
Why didn’t the mistakes get surfaced when they were still around so that they could defend themselves?

Yes, everyone has the rights to freedom of speech.

But, that freedom is not meant to be abused to bring other people down, especially dead people!
There are other things that should be mentioned, should be talked about, should be worried about.

Just let them rest in peace.
LITERALLY, rest in peace.

I've quoted her once, I'm gonna quote her again:
"I wept recognising that no one was perfect,
and that if we expected to be loved for all our imperfections,
why are we so reluctant to accept and forgive the imperfections of others?"
