one of the many ways to kill boredom during the long weekend, is to have a pirated DVD marathon..
considering that im not that 'mobile' to go watch great movies on the big screen (having 2 active kiddos and all),
i've become one of the regular customer of the DVD shop which is less than 5 mins away from my office.
last nite, i cried my eyes out watching The Notebook.
[on and off screen couple]
i've read the book (by Nicholas Sparks), and i've been wanting to watch the movie for years (tapi asyik la lupa nak beli). it's not a newly released movie..
Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were still young in the movie..
i like the movie, as much as i like the book. well, it's, of course, a classic love story,
of how true love can overcome all the challenges (social status, war, distance..... forbidden love)
i love drama movies, no matter how lengthy they can be.. so, for this movie, im giving it 4 out of 5 stars
;)
p/s: i wish the ending could be a bit more dramatic tho..
2 nights ago, i watched My Best Friend's Girl.

it's a romantic comedy, which is a genre that Kate Hudson is good at.
Jason Biggs, who is bestfriends with Kate Hudson, who is secretly madly in love with her. one fine day, he makes a confession to Kate, only knowing that she doesnt feel the same. Jason is a great guy, but she's just not into him. Living with his cousin, Tank (played by Dane Cook), who is an a$$hole by professional - if a guy broke up with his gf, Tank is hired to date the gf, and be a total a$$hole so that the gf would see that her ex-bf is still the best!
so, all things go wrong when Jason hires Tank to work out his magic, and ended up having Tank falling for Kate..
it's an OK movie to me.. Kate Hudson is witty and gorgeous, as always.. so, for this movie, im giving it 3 out of 5 stars
p/s: Dane Cook's character on this movie, is somewhat similar to his character in Good Luck Chuck.
many actors in Hollywood start to work on movies that give them depth, as they get older (well, that's only my personal opinion..). and i think, that is one of the reasons that Brad Pitt chose to star in this movie.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. i LOVE the movie,
and it's NOT because Brad Pitt's in it!
[i wonder whether Ms. Jolie would still fancy Mr. Pitt when he looks like THAT!]
a fresh storyline of how a man is born old, and aging backwards.
given away by his father, Benjamin was raised by a black lady, at the old folks home.
at the age of 5, he looks like any other old men staying at the home - moving around in a wheelchair, or crutches..
the movie follows all his wonderful experience of growing up (younger), and all the people he has come in contact with. the happiness, the sadness.. the funniness.
the love interest of Benjamin is played by Cate Blanchett, and she is amazing in her character..
again, it's a drama movie, and im giving it 5 stars!
take note: it's not because of Brad Pitt!
this movie is one of the fave rumoured to bag home the Best Picture - Oscar 2008 (apart from its many other nominations). i do hope it'll get it!
p/s: if u love Forrest Gump, u'll love this movie!! reminder: prepare a box of tissue next to u when u watch this movie..
