the week i turned 30 + 1

This conversation took place on Friday, 20th March
Miss Spoilbrat: Babe, since ur birthday is coming up, why don’t u put up some wish list on ur blog.. like what u want as ur pressies!
Shoe-addict-mom: Haa? What for..? Don’t want la.. Nanti org cakap I poyo plak!
Miss Spoilbrat: Ala, u takyah letak sampai beratus2 list… 2/3 will do.. kalau letak sampai penuh satu window, memang la poyo!
Shoe-addict-mom: Emm, takyah la kot babe..! It’s not that I have anything that I want on my mind.. Besides, without having to ask, I’ve got some pressies already… and I’m happy enough!

I’m never really a person who comes up with a list of things that I want,
either for my birthday or anniversary. Honest, to the core!
A simple wish or a text message, or an email, or just a simple get-together will do just fine!
I’ll be happy as a happy bunny!
If it turns out that I do get something as pressies, I consider that as a bonus!
But, it’s something that I can live without.. ;)

But, the week that I turned 30 + 1, I must admit, it was one of the best weeks I’ve had in my life!
It all started on:

Friday, 20th March @ work
I’ve always known that my friends @ work love throwing surprise birthday parties. They always come up with funny ways of surprising the birthday babies! But, this year, having my big day that fell on a Sunday, I didn’t expect that they’d come up with something. So, I spent my usual day, typing away some working papers and whatnot, while waiting for the clock to hit 5.45! (btw, penantian itu satu penyeksaan!)
At around 4.30ish, my colleague called me up, asking me to drop by her place (apparently she needed my assistance on something) at the next building. So, I went.
After we were done with the discussion, she said she wanted to come over to my place, coz she had to make some phone calls, and she wasn’t comfortable to do it at her place. Too many unwanted ears listening, according to her claim! Ok, fine.
So, we walked back to my place, and turned out, the door was locked. All my staff were not in the room, and in my head, “I don’t remember them having other meetings today. If they have, I’d have known.” Before I got to open the door, my colleague pulled me towards the discussion room, saying that she wanted to talk about some problems she was facing. Ok, fine.
I followed her, and the next thing I knew, “SURPRISE!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” I nearly got a heart attack! In the room, I saw faces of my close friends from work, and was thrilled!! Siap lari masuk tandas, sebab ada incident ‘hujan’ sekejap! Hahaha…! The rest was all great, yummy, sweet and GREAT!!!


p/s: thanx a million for the thought, guys! Like I said, it was definitely the best(est) way to end my fry-day!

Saturday, 21st March @ Bora Ombak, Ampang
Remember the reunion thingy that I was telling u about? Yea?

So, it did take place, and it was GREAT!!!

Though we didn’t manage to get EVERYONE to come, still, those who made it really made the gathering worthwhile! Even after 19 years of not seeing each other, the closeness and the bond were still the same! What was even nicer, some of them came with their own ‘little miniatures.’ Gosh, how time flies!

And, with this, I must thank the creator of facebook – that was how we found each other!

All hail the facebook!

p/s: and yes, catching up with childhood friends would definitely be considered as a wonderful birthday gift!!!

Sunday, 22nd March @ errr, here & there?
I woke up with mr. hubby and kiddos wishing me “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IBU!”

From there on, I knew I was gonna have a GREAT day! By 11.30am, we were already singing our heart out at the Red Box! Hahahhaa.. mr. hubby didn’t dare to comment on my unbeatable skill of ‘sumbangsih’, coz it was my birthday what!? Hahahha!! And the kiddos (my 2 sweety pies), claimed that “Ibu nyanyi best laa!” They kept on passing me the mic, but keeping it away from their dad! :P
After lunch, we took the kiddos to let their hair down at the Taman Tasik Perdana. They managed to conquer all the playgrounds there. End result: their faces looked like ‘udang bakar.’
To conclude 22nd March, we had our dinner at, errrr... hihihihi! Delicious 1U! hahahaa!! just the way i like it!

p/s: spending hours under the hot sun, just watching the kiddos having the time of their lives, was definitely another unforgettable pressie for my birthday!

It’s not measured by quantity of the pressies that we got,
It’s not measured by how big the celebration is held,
It’s measured by the thought that they remember our special date,
that we do somehow have, if not big,
a small part in their lives!
