Mind you, not the WORLD map.
My recent work trip to Kuching, Sarawak
marked the completion of my visit to whole of Malaysia.
Yes, Sarawak was the final state,
and I'm proud to say I'm Malaysian!
I've also concluded that:
I talk faster than a bullet train in front of a big crowd.
Though public speaking IS part of my job,
I can never get the hang of it!
Kuching isn't made of high-rise buildings.
But the ones they have there are all unique!
Kuching is still all about the trees.
People tend to take things one step at a time.
Hence, I got a rather calm feeling, lesser hustle and bustle as opposed to KL City.
Not that I've been to THAT many state libraries,
but Sarawak State Library is among the modern libraries I've been to.
Glass stairs, ok? Can you find that anywhere else??
People still depend on small boats to get to places.
Seems that it's quicker to get to the other side by boat!
But then, the charges are just WAY too low!
C'mon, RM0.40 per ride???
Of all the landmark cats, the one in the pic is my fave!
I'm gonna call it Bluey (check out the big blue eyes!)
And, I can tell, he's one curious cat.. reminds me of ME! :p
Although the difference of room charges between Hilton Kuching and the hotel that I stayed in,
was merely RM20,
the company would never booked a room in Hilton Kuching!
People in Kuching also know Nasi Kerabu.
And that I didn't mind having it as my dinner!
I envy people who can grow gardens,
When I can't get any plants to grow!
Pua Kumbu and Orang Ulu are seen in almost every craft items made by Sarawakians.
They are proud of their culture, and they are proud to share it with the world!
That I'd prefer learning and seeing arts and crafts MORE than
checking out shopping spots!
One last thing,
I will NOT catch a movie again in Kuching.
With old uncles watching chick-flick, which I think is just plain weird...
With baby roaches crawling on your hands and feet, which I think is just EWWWW!
I'm DONE with cinema in Kuching!
(there's only ONE cinema anyway!)
I did have a WONDERFUL weekend.
Did you?
