it was once the dreaded prison for convicts and probably one of the oldest that dates back to the time of the British in what was once Malaya... now, it's an abandon derelict, a reminder of time past where most of the hardcore prisoners were imprisoned and executed. being right in the middle of a fast developing KL city, this place is now a target for future development.... wat is here today, will be gone maybe... a few years from now...
i read a feature in KOSMO! last month, about Azril Ismail's experience being in the once 'villainous' Pudu Jail. he spent some nights there taking photos of the place - for exhibition purposes - "Live Animals Inside". some of the shots taken were published in the paper, and i had planned to visit (not the jail!), but his exhibition.. but, i got 'lost in time' and missed it!
his shots were amazing, and i always have strong interest in photography.. wat more, with his courage in trying to reveal the feelings and struggle faced by the convicts back then, which most of these were projected thru the graffiti! hats off to this amazing man!
