i've had this problem eversince i was in my secondary years.
my mom had taken me to the hospital once,
but having to go thru many so many doctors before i got to the right one, was just irritating.
so, i chose to do nothing about it.
for many years, it comes and goes.
until these past few weeks, it occurs more than i can endure.
it's my Locking Jaw condition.
open my mouth wide enough to bite on a burger,
chew on something hard like a piece of baguette,
it's defintely gonna get locked!
when it's locked, i can say Bye-Bye to my burger or baguette!
i've done some browsing on the net,
and this is what i've found from www.leadingdentists.com :
Limited jaw movement or locking jaw may feel like the lower jaw is catching when the jaw is opened. In some cases a person with a locked jaw must move the jaw to one side or the other in order to open the mouth wide. A person might also have to open the mouth until a popping sound is heard and felt, at which point the jaw unlocks.
Limited jaw movement or locking jaw is often a result of a “bad bite.” When the bite is not aligned correctly it causes problems in the jaw joint, the TMJ (temporomandibular joint). The unaligned bite can result in locking jaw, clicking or popping in the jaw, and headaches.
Neuromuscular dentistry realigns the bite by measuring the jaw in its most relaxed position and then putting the jaw back into its natural position. In most cases this repositioning can be accomplished without braces or surgery.
i know i must do something about it.
i do regularly visit my dentist for scaling and such,
but i've never mentioned to him about this condition.
maybe it's time that i say something to him, huh?
but then again, seeing him has always been something that i dont enjoy.
what more with having him to do further check on my jaw??
arrghhh!
or maybe i'll just do nothing about it (again), for... couple more years?

If you can figure out a way to "unlock" your jaw on your own (like how I did sometime back) then it'd be alright to live with I suppose.
whoaamello: most of the times, i can "unlock" it, but the tendency of it being "locked" is getting higher now.. the pain is unbearable - at times! :(
